Using An App To Track Medication Compliance.
A large pharmaceutical company was looking to elevate the asthma patient experience with a digital health app to increase utilization and help patients gain control of their respiratory health, faster. They sought to uncover patient needs, delighters, and detractors in order to prompt patients to seek greater control.
Across the 4-month study, I interacted with patients through both qualitative and quantitative means, first leveraging a one-week online community understanding asthma patients’ initial experiences using the device and app, then following-up with virtual interviews at 3-month and 4-month periods alongside a quantitative survey of patients who use the app. This comprehensive approach helped to discover what was driving, or not driving, patients to seek better control over their asthma.
I uncovered that the device and app can be a partner for patients by helping them realize they’re not in control of their asthma using objective, versus subjective, data. This is key to instigate action and help drive patients to see their doctor and even empower them to make management plan changes.
